Senior
members of MIFAB represent a strong association of
excellent Chilean researchers in fundamental and applied
biology. They lead important groups in Chile which
are carrying out basic and integrated research in
the areas of neuroscience, cell surface biology and
protein trafficking, reproductive biology, immunology,
virology and molecular biology. They have a history
of long standing success in obtaining research grants
with an outstanding record of publications. All of
them have been involved in the education of numerous
undergraduate and graduate students as well as in
the supervision of post-doctoral trainees. They all
have international reputation and maintain reciprocal
scientific exchanges with major basic and biotechnological
research centers in Latin America and the rest of
the world. The team includes seven Chilean Presidential
Chairs in Science and three scientists in the cutting
edge of science applications to economic and biotechnological
activities.
In addition to the senior staff, the Institute has
incorporated several leading Associated Scientists
in applied and basic areas of research, who have streghthened
the scientific assets of the Institute.
